Department of Construction

Building the Future: Managing the Process of Creating the Built Environment
The Department of Construction at Manhattan International University addresses the complete lifecycle of construction projects, from initial feasibility studies through to facility management. Our programs combine technical knowledge of building processes with management skills essential for delivering successful construction outcomes. We prepare students to navigate the complexities of modern construction, including sustainability requirements, digital technologies, regulatory frameworks, and evolving procurement methods.

The curriculum covers construction technology (materials, methods, structures), building services (HVAC, electrical, plumbing), construction management (scheduling, cost control, site management), and building information modeling (BIM). Students learn about sustainable construction practices, building regulations, contract administration, and health and safety management. The program emphasizes the digital transformation of construction, including the use of drones, laser scanning, and digital twins for project management and quality control.

Practical learning includes site visits, laboratory sessions for materials testing, and workshops using industry-standard software for project planning and BIM coordination. Our strong industry connections with contractors, consultants, and developers provide valuable networking opportunities and placements. London’s continuous construction activity offers a living laboratory for study. Graduates pursue careers as construction managers, site engineers, BIM coordinators, quantity surveyors, and project planners, equipped to contribute to building the sustainable infrastructure of tomorrow.
