Department of Mechanical Science

Designing and Optimizing Mechanical Systems for Modern Challenges
The Department of Mechanical Science at Manhattan International University focuses on the fundamental principles and advanced applications of mechanical engineering science. Our programs blend theoretical mechanics with practical design and analysis skills, preparing students to develop innovative solutions in areas ranging from sustainable energy and advanced manufacturing to robotics and transportation. We emphasize the integration of traditional engineering principles with emerging technologies to address contemporary global challenges.

The curriculum covers thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, solid mechanics, dynamics and control, and materials science. Students learn computer-aided design (CAD), finite element analysis (FEA), and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) using industry-standard software. The program places strong emphasis on sustainable design principles, renewable energy systems, and mechatronics. Laboratory work includes materials testing, engine performance analysis, wind tunnel experiments, and robotics programming, providing hands-on experience with fundamental mechanical phenomena.

Our project-based learning approach challenges students to design, build, and test mechanical systems, from energy-efficient HVAC systems to autonomous vehicles. Partnerships with engineering firms and manufacturing companies in London and beyond provide internship opportunities and exposure to real-world engineering challenges. Graduates are prepared for roles as mechanical design engineers, project engineers, HVAC specialists, robotics engineers, and research developers in industries including automotive, aerospace, energy, and manufacturing.
